About the site

The Foster A Brighter Future website is managed by the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare (the Centre) as the central online information point for members of the community looking to become foster carers or interested in finding out more about foster care in Victoria, Australia.  If you are from another Australian state or territory please visit the Links section of the website for information on your local foster care providers.

About the Foster Care Project

The Centre's Foster Care Project aims to raise the profile of foster care in Victoria.

The Project is funded by the Department of Human Services and is delivered by the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare (the Centre).

The Centre's key Project activities include:

  • Providing a statewide information and referral service to Victorians interested in becoming foster carers
  • Coordinating statewide media and advertising campaigns
  • Distributing promotional material about foster care
  • Sharing knowledge and expertise with foster care providers

In addition to raising the profile of foster care, the Centre provides representation, professional development, research, policy and program advice and resources to the 98 community service organisations in the child, youth and family services sector of Victoria.
