Nicholas's story
According to Nicholas the best thing about being the son of a foster carer was the reward of seeing a young person grow and the relationship he developed with them as a sibling.
He said the challenges of having a foster teenager included trying to get them to open up.
Boundaries could also be different and life experiences diametrically opposed.
"Patience is the key," he said. "And obviously you both face the unknown of how the relationship is going to turn out when you first have the young person move in. It takes time and understanding."
"I live by the saying we have on our fridge: Happiness isn't the absence of conflict, but how you cope with it."
